WHAT IS A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?
The Chamber is a voluntary federation of business community uniting the efforts of business and professional individuals to ensure a healthy economic and socioeconomic base to benefit the entire community. The Chamber harnesses the tremendous potential of the private enterprise system and enables its membership to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by its Board of Directors, elected by the membership.
WHO FINANCES THE CHAMBER? The Chamber is a "business" and it incurs cost of operations and expenses similar to any other type of business. Those expenses re apportioned among its members, individuals and firms, representing all types of business, industry and the professions. All share a mutual desire to achieve a better community for its citizens. Chamber membership is an INVESTMENT in the present and future welfare of both the individual and their community.

EDUCATION
The Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce holds Monthly General Meetings including topics of interest to business, using local speakers. The Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce, Business Development Bank of Canada, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Fundy Regional Development Commission and the Province of New Brunswick (Advanced Education and Labour) sponsor a service of business workshops designed to inform, educate and motivate local small business owners and managers, also at a reduced rate for Chamber members.
PROMOTION
The Chamber encourages members to "buy Sussex". The Annual Golf Tournament provides members with opportunities to invite clients or potential clients for a little competition, delicious food and a great time. Member businesses are invited to display promotional material at the local Tourist Bureau. As a Chamber Member, your business will be listed as part of a profile page for Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce, through the Atlantic Province's Chamber of Commerce.

Communication plays a key role in the operation of the Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce. The Chamber has a good working relationship with agencies involved in stimulating economic growth, tourism, transportation and with those in the political arena. The Chamber

CHAMBER NEWS
CHAMBER NEWS is the Chamber's newsletter published and distributed to all chamber members. It features information on in-house activities, policy developments and upcoming events.
ANNUAL REPORT
The Chamber's activities, policy decisions and achievements are chronicled in the annual report. This report highlights committee undertakings, special events and provides a financial picture of the Chamber.
SURVEYS BRIEFS AND SUBMISSIONS
The Chamber monitors current trends by conducting surveys of its members and produces policy position papers on major issues facing the business community today. Copies of all briefs, surveys and submissions are on file and can be made available to any member who requests them.
GROUP INSURANCE
The Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce makes available to its members a group insurance plan suitable for small businesses. Benefits available include: Life, Dependent Life, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Major Medical and Dental.
BUSINESS MIXERS
Business mixers provide members with an opportunity to "talk shop" in a social setting. Members are encouraged to exchange business cards and view the exhibits of other members.
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEONS
The Sussex & District Chamber Of Commerce pays serious attention to its goal of keeping its members informed about the latest business or economic development issues. Over lunch, members may hear about new community initiatives from local business leaders or listen to influential speakers on topics such as free trade, tax reform and so on.
ANNUAL DINNERS
Annual AGM Dinner
This dinner is held to bring members together for the annual report, introduction of directors and a popular social evening along with an informative guest speaker.
Annual Awards Dinner
This special evening recognizes the efforts of business and individuals in the following categories- Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year (in conjunction with Enterprise Fundy), King’s County Female Entrepreneur of the Year (in conjunction with CBDC)
